Robby Gordon Chicago Preview

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 8, 2008) - After finishing sixth last weekend at Daytona International Speedway and being the second highest finishing Dodge in the 43-car field, the Robby Gordon Motorsports team heads to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend prepared to carry the momentum of their strong finish forward into the second half of the 2008 season.

In true character style, Gordon is supporting Jim Beam’s initiative to “Save our Ballpark’s [Wrigley Field’s] Name” by running the No. 7 “SaveOurName.com” Jim Beam Dodge this weekend. The name of the Chicago Cubs’ stadium is in jeopardy of being changed, so Jim Beam is urging fans to sign a petition to save the field’s name. In just seven starts at the 1.5 mile D-shaped oval track, Gordon returns to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend hoping to be a hometown hero for Jim Beam. For the first time in the track’s history, the 267 laps of racing action will begin on Saturday, July 12th at 8:00 p.m. (ET) under the lights.

Gordon on Chicago – “Heading to Chicago, I am feeling good about the way our program is running after our 6th place finish last weekend. It is the first time that we will be running at Chicago under the lights, so it will be exciting to see what the race on Saturday unfolds. We had a successful test at Charlotte earlier this season, so I think with that knowledge and the improvements we have made since then, we have the ability to make a great run this weekend in the Jim Beam “SaveOurName.com” Dodge.”

TV and Radio Times – Qualifying is set for Thursday, July 10th at 8:40 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV, MRN, and Sirius. Race time on Saturday is 8:00 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast on TNT, MRN, and Sirius.

Appearance Schedule – Gordon will make a stop at Jim Beam headquarters on Thursday, July 10th to visit with executives and employees. Later that night, he will make another Jim Beam appearance at the Cadillac Ranch located at 1175 W Lake St., Bartlett, IL 60056. He will be onsite from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, he will sign autographs for his fans at his souvenir trailer at 2:15 p.m.
