CHARLOTTE, NC – The No. 7 Robby Gordon Motorsports team concluded the two-day test at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Tuesday evening with a sense of accomplishment, showcasing the team’s strength and speed. When the sun set on Tuesday evening, Gordon’s speeds were good enough to put him sixth quick, improving from eighteenth in the afternoon session earlier that day and fifteenth in Monday’s evening session.

NASCAR officials added this last minute test session in response to the outspoken need for more information to help teams manage the new Car of Tomorrow on the intermediate tracks. With 17 more 1.5 mile tracks on the circuit this year, it was a much appreciated learning experience for Robby Gordon Motorsports. The test ultimately helped Gordon and his team refine their set-ups and make significant adjustments to gauge which car to bring as the primary for a successful Coca Cola 600 race.

Gordon’s comments on the test, “We wanted to optimize every possible set-up, which I think we accomplished successfully. Gathering and analyzing all of this data will really help us, not only at LMS but on the other 1.5 mile tracks as well. I was satisfied with our increased speed and what we learned about the tires on this track.”

At the conclusion of the test, Gordon was ranked ninth best overall with a lap time of 29.376 seconds and a speed of 183.824 mph.

The No. 7 team heads to Darlington this weekend before returning to Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the All-Star Race and the Coca Cola 600 later this month.
