Robby Gordon throttles through the technical sections in Laughlin
The weekend started out well for the Monster Energy Toyo Tire CK1500 Chevrolet. On Thursday night Robby Gordon won the Laughlin Leap with a jump of 152 feet in front of a full house. Gordon out jumped his nearest competitor by 12 feet to take his first ever victory in the exciting event.
In Friday’s qualifying session Gordon set the second fast time, just a second off the best lap laid down by Riviera Racings Rob MacCachren. Photos from Laughlin

Marking the first time in SCORE history that there has been qualifying for a SCORE Desert Series race, MacCachren, who splits driving time with team owner and driver of record Mark Post, Laguna Beach, Calif., covered the 6.25-mile loop course 6 minutes, 52.28 seconds while averaging 54.61 miles per hour to edge NASCAR’s Robby Gordon, Charlotte, N.C., who was second in his No. 77 Chevy CK1500 in a time of 6:53.12 at an average speed of 54.48mph.

LAUGHLIN, Nev. –NASCAR Sprint Cup team owner/driver Robby Gordon nearly set an event-record in winning
Thursday’s SCORE Laughlin Leap competition, a prelude to this weekend’s season-opening 14th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, Nev.
Robby Gordon Off-road announced its winner in the first ever Baja 1000 video contest. The video, 'I am Robby Gordon' impressed the judges (including Robby) enough to be declared the winner. The video, produced by Wicked Gravity Video, was judged to be the most creative effort which also received the most views of user submitted videos in the Baja play list on the RGM youtube channel. "It was great to see all the videos streaming in," said Robby. "I want to thank all those that entered the contest for sharing the action of Baja." Congratulations to Wicked Gravity Video.
