Robby Gordon Off-Road was off to a good start in the 40th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500, when a hub on the Monster Energy/Toyo Tires Hummer broke, and the team was forced to end the race early. This was the same part that the team had trouble with during the Central Europe Rally.
Defending race winner Robby Gordon of Charlotte, N.C., charged back from early problems with the No. 71 Chevy CK1500 to place third in the SCORE Trophy-Truck category and fifth overall among four-wheel vehicles. Gordon had to run an early portion of the course in the dark with just a handheld portable lamp for vision. But the Nextel Cup team owner/driver fought his way back to compete the event with a finishing time of 27:12:14. Photos from the 2007 Baja 1000
With the final outcome never fully decided in the elapsed-time race until the checkered flag, NASCAR’s Robby Gordon, finished second overall and second in the SCORE International trophy truck class in this year's Baja 500. Gordon's Monster Energy / Toyo Tires No. 71 Chevy CK1500, finished just 3 minutes, 57 seconds behind Ragland/Collins , this year's overall winners . Photos from the Baja 500

ON WINNING BAJA 1000 "Thank you. I am glad we finally won this thing again. It has been a long time since we won the 1000. We have sponsorship over there from Red Bull, Chevrolet and Toyo Tires and it the first time Toyo has ever won the Baja 1000, in fact it is the first time that any one other than B.F. Goodrich has won the Baja 1000, or at least for about 20 years. We are really, really happy with the progress we have made with our off-road program and we are obviously working hard on our Nextel Cup cars as well. Obviously we are here for the Ford NASCAR weekend, our car is decent. I think we were 28th in practice qualifying trim. The field is just so tight right now, fractions of a second make a big difference." Photos from the 2006 Baja 1000
