“I feel very good about being ninth overall in the Dakar Rally. We still have a long way to go, and I know that our team can make up some ground on the leaders. There is still a long way to go yet, and we are sure that other teams will encounter problems before the end of the race. I have been conservative on the first couple of stages, and we will show the world what Team Dakar USA is all about when the time is right,” stated Gordon.

“The course was very dusty today. In the silt-like area, there was a quad stuck in the middle of the course. I stopped, backed up and got stock,” said Gordon. “Today, we lost some time but as far as I am concerned it was a good special for us. There were no issues with the car, and we are two days in to a 14-day race that will only get tougher,” commented the driver of the No. 309 Monster Energy Toyo Tires Hummer.

Team Dakar USA came in very optimistic to the inaugural stage of the 2009 Dakar Rally. The stage consisted of very fast narrow roads with sharp unforgiving turns.

The 2009 Dakar Rally, which takes place between the 3rd and 18th of January, is scheduled to be broadcast in 189 countries. Interest is set on the 530 participants competing for ultimate glory, and everyone’s attention will be on the rivalry between the factory teams of Hummer, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi and X-raid-BMW.
