Did I mention it was 41 degrees and misty at the start of the race?
The 7 car boyz did 8 “competitive” pit stops on the day. Now what I mean by competitive is a regular pit stop for tires, fuel and adjustments. It doesn’t count for or against us as a pit crew when we only take fuel, make adjustments, pit for a flat tire or other problems. A good example is the 2nd stop of the day when Robby had to come to pit road for a flat left front on lap 43 because of an incident with the 84 car. (I don’t want to mention any names but it rhymes with Skinner!) We had to pick up on the car to get the jack under the left side, put left side tires on it and go before we went another lap down.
The 4th stop of the day was one that really counted. We came in 3rd of the 1 lap down cars and went out 1st! That put us at the front of the line to get our lap back via the “Lucky Dog”. We beat the 01 and 17 cars to put Robby in that position and he drove his butt off to get our lap back.
We didn’t get the result out of the day that we thought we deserved because of a part failure but as a Pit Crew we had a good day and look forward to Texas.
