2005
Started his own NASCAR NEXTEL cup team with Jim Beam, Harrah's and Menards as sponsors. Ran second at Watkins Glen.
2005
Became first American to win a stage in Dakar. Gordon also scored his second victory during the 16 day event. Eventually finished 12th in his first outing.
2004
Competed in the Memorial Day Double with his own Indy Car.
2004
Competed in his final year with Richard Childress Racing. Started his own NASCAR Busch team that competed in 26 events. Gordon scored his first win as a driver/owner at the Emerson 300 at Richmond.
2003
Robby sweeps the road courses in Winston Cup by winning his third Cup race at Watkins Glen. Gordon became the fourth driver to win both road course events in a season joining the likes of Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace and Tim Richmond. In both road course events Gordon scored maximum points by leading the most laps and winning the events.

Gordon gets his second career (first road-course) NASCAR win at Sonoma by out duelling Jeff Gordon in the final laps.

Attempted the Memorial Day Double Duty. Started 3rd in th Indy 500. Finished 22nd after the Budwiser/Archipelago/Motorola IRL car suffered gearbox failure. Drove the Cingular Wirless Monte Carlo to a 17th place finish in the rain shortened Coca-Cola 600

Won the season opening Gatorade Twin 125 at Daytona driving the Cingular Wireless Monte Carlo.

Finished 3rd in the Baja 1000.

Completed first full Winston cup season driving the #31 Cingular Wireless Monte Carlo. Garnered five top-10 finishes, highlighted by a third-place finish at Watkins Glen in August. He finished 20th in the season standings and cashed in to the tune of $3,054,240.

June - Finished NASCAR Winston Cup career-best second at Sears Point Raceway driving in a substitute role for the No. 7 Ultra Motorsports team. Qualified 12th for the Indianapolis 500 with team he assembled and ranwith the financial backing of Team SABCO. Was running in the second position when a cockpit fire on lap 19 ended his day. Suffered second and third-degree burns on his hands, wrist and right thigh that sidelined him for one month.
