No Vacation Time for Robby Gordon

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 25, 2006) – Robby Gordon, taking every opportunity to get back to his roots of off-road racing, will participate in this weekend’s SCORE International Desert Series Off-Road Race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) Dirt Track.

Held July 27th through 29th while the majority of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series regulars take the weekend off, Gordon will race his No. 83 Red Bull/Toyo Tires-sponsored Chevy CK1500 Trophy Truck around the 1.5-mile course designed specifically for this uniquely fan-friendly event.   With almost 90 percent of the track viewable from the over 12,000-seat grandstand area, Gordon and the other competitors will tangle on the man-made course in front of a packed house.

Gordon will be filling in for the No. 83 Chevy’s driver of record, Andy McMillin, who competes in the truck for the majority of the six-race season.   For more information, please visit scorelasvegas.com or call (818) 225-8402.

“This is a great race for the fans,” said the 37 year old Gordon.  “The track is almost completely viewable from the stands and it gives the fans an opportunity to see these trucks perform.  Usually we are out in the middle of the desert racing, so this is a great chance for fans to see what these trucks can really do up close.  I haven’t been in the truck since the Baja 500 back in June and I am really looking forward to getting some seat time in my Trophy Truck.

“Thanks to great sponsors like Red Bull and Toyo Tires, I am able to get a chance to go back to my roots and get a little dirty.”
