Robby Gordon Finishes 26th at Richmond

RICHMOND – Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway ended a lot better than it started for No. 7 Dodge driver Robby Gordon.

Before a sell-out crowd of over 112,000 fans, the Charter Communications Dodge battled its way from a 38th place starting position to finish 26th in the 400-lap race on the three-quarter mile oval.

Many of the competitors struggled with handling problems throughout the night, including Gordon.

“I can’t turn this car in a forty acre field,” exclaimed Gordon over the team radio just laps after the green flag started the 43-car race.

Although the long green flag runs left very little opportunity to work on the car, it did give the No.7 crew time to plan their strategies.

The team never gave up and kept working on Gordon’s Dodge. They made multiple handling adjustments in the eight pit stops of the night, which paid off in the long run.

As other drivers encountered similar handling problems or accidents, Gordon began climbing up the leader board. He gained 18 positions over the last 200 laps of the race.

When the checkered flag finally flew, the Charter Communications Dodge crossed the finish line 26th.

The finish leaves Gordon in 29th place in points.

The Sprint Cup Series travels to the newly repaved Darlington Raceway this weekend where the No. 7 will feature the Jim Beam colors.
