Talladega Post Race

Robby Gordon 11th at Talladega

Talladega, AL – After finishing 10th overall in the Central Europe Rally, Robby Gordon flew straight from Budapest, Hungary to Talladega, AL, where he jumped in his No. 7 Dodge for another 499 miles of racing in a car that he hadn’t made one lap in around the infamous high banked superspeedway.

Starting 41st due to a driver change, Gordon quickly had the feel for his car and said that it “drove like a dream.” In his conservative restrictor plate racing style, Gordon stayed out of trouble all day and even overcame being a lap down. As the cars in the back of the pack started crashing on the white flag lap, Gordon avoided the “big one” and crossed the stripe in 11th position.

“We were pretty good all day long, didn’t have to make any major adjustments, just tires and fuel,” said Gordon after the 188-lap race. “We knew we needed to stay out of trouble and be there in the end, which isn’t always easy here. We got a lap down during green flag pit stops, but finally got the lucky dog near the end. We were right back in contention with the rest of the pack. We avoided the wrecks and came home with a clean race car in 11th position. Not a bad day for the No.7 Dodge team, considering I hadn’t driven the car until today.”

Gordon is currently 28th in owner points, 27th in drivers points.

Kyle Busch won his first Talladega race under caution after the collision near the back of the pack occurred coming to the checkered flag.

The Robby Gordon Motorsports team will return to action at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday, May 3rd, for under the lights racing in the No. 7 Charter Communications Dodge.
